TAILORED TO YOU.

PRACTISE MAKES PERFECT.

It doesn’t matter what stage of your photography journey you are on, there are always lessons to be learned. James is a big believer in the sharing of knowledge and loves to help others refine their craft.

From the basics of exposure and getting to know your camera, advanced framing and composition considerations, to mastering the art of post production, James’ 19 years of experience can help you make the most of the opportunities you may encounter on your next photography adventure.

Workshops and tutorials with James are available across multiple genres of photography: from landscape to portrait, through to advanced editing techniques and beyond. Get in touch to find out more.

NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY.

Forming good habits starts right at the beginning of your photography journey, so it does not matter if you have never picked up a camera before. We will start at the very beginning and develop a solid foundation for you to build upon.

If you already know your way around the basics, that’s great! We’ll take what you know and build on that existing knowledge and experience to help you improve upon the areas that are important to you.

MASTER YOUR KIT.

If you don’t know your way around a “proper’ camera, it can seem daunting. Even if you do, there might be features that you’re not sure how best to put into practise. Together, we can push your kit to its limit by expanding your knowledge of how to use it through practical lessons in the field.

EXPLORE COMPOSITION.

There are thousands of different ways to compose and frame a photograph. No two people will organically approach the same scene I the same way. Whether you have a good understanding of composition or not, together we can explore different ideas on how to approach photographing a scene, that you might just love.

DISCOVER LOCATIONS.

Exploration is a key component to landscape photography and is arguably one of the most important aspects of the genre. Discovering a new location can inspire you to produce your best work. Together, we can explore areas and spots that I know will either provide you with the best conditions for learning, or take your breath away. Perhaps even both!.

PERKS/DISCOUNTS.

FORMATT HITECH

For many landscape photographers, filters play an integral role in the photographic process. They can help you bring out the very best in your scenes and open up a host of creative opportunities to elevate your photography.

While you join James on a workshop or tutorial, you get access to a range of Formatt Hitech filters and filter holder, including a series of different density ND filters, soft grads, hard grads and a polariser so that you can use the right filters for the scene you are shooting.

One of the perks of being an ambassador for Formatt Hitech is that I can offer discount on their products to fellow photographers. Save 10% on your next purchase at https://www.formatt-hitech.com using the code FORTUNE10 at checkout*.

If you have access to your own filters, that’s great! You can of course use your own filters while we work. However, if you want to try out a few new options, then they are there waiting for you!

f-stop

Carrying your kit can be a cumbersome task. The more kit you want to bring, the more issues that you can encounter as the weight on your back increases. At this point, it is essential to invest in a quality backpack that can distribute the weight of your kit correctly. Not only will this save you from excruciating back pain, but it will also enable you to go further with the kit that you need, while keeping it all as safe as possible.

As a Pathfinder for f-stop, workshop and tutorial participants get access to 15% discount on f-stop’s excellent range of products alongside $20 credit to spend on their website at the end of the session.

f-stop products are incredibly well designed, offering some of the best in class quality and functionality that is currently available.

BOOKING/PAYMENT:

To book your place, simply pay your deposit via the “book now” button below. Once paid, your session is secured. I will contact you from there so that we can have a chat and discuss your needs and book in a date.

PLEASE NOTE:

You are required to provide proof of travel insurance before the first date of the workshop and I would always recommend that you insure your camera equipment. No travel insurance means that you will not be able to join me on the session.

We can tailor this one to one session’s level of fitness to your own particular needs. Participation is at your own risk and I cannot be held liable for any injuries sustained during our workshop. Should you have specific requirements that must be considered, it is important for you to declare them in advance.

We will usually travel to some spots on foot. Some of the terrain can be rough or slippery underfoot, so it is crucial that you wear appropriate footwear.

You will need to pack appropriate clothing and footwear as the weather can be unpredictable! I would strongly recommend packing your waterproofs, just in case!

If you have to pull out of the session for whatever reason, please do let me know and we can discuss options together. One rearrangement is allowed, but your second will be treated as a cancellation and will be non-refundable. This does not include situations such as the weather being too adverse to shoot in.

If you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to drop me a line at james@jameswfortune.co.uk
